One of Roscommon’s key hurlers has returned to the county senior hurling panel.

Pádraig Pearses forward, Seán Canning, has been named in Brian Hanley’s match-day squad for Saturday’s crucial Division Three League game against Louth at the Protection and Prosperity Louth GAA Training Centre, Darvar.

Canning had been plying his trade with the county senior footballers earlier this season, making a couple of appearances in the FBD League.

However, the return of a player who scored 1-2 in last year’s Nickey Rackard Cup final success against Mayo is a major boost to the hurlers’ prospects for 2026.

Meanwhile, the team for Saturday’s visit to Darvar shows one change to the team that defeated Armagh, 2-17 to 0-12, at the BOX-IT Athletic grounds last time out.

Oran defender Micheál Hussey has been named to start in place of the suspended Jack Dowling.

Roscommon have beaten Wicklow and Armagh so far in Division Three, and a hat-trick of victories against a Louth side, that have won two out of their three games in the division, would put the Rossies very firmly in the hunt for promotion.
