Local referee congratulated on being selected to take charge of 'prestigious' county final
Shane Curley, Glinsk GAA Club will take charge of this year's Galway senior football final on Saturday, October 24th.
A local referee has been congratulated by his club after being chosen to take charge of one of the most eagerly-anticipated county finals in the country later this month.
Glinsk GAA Club expressed its pride when one of its own, Shane Curley, was confirmed as the referee for this year’s Galway senior football final between Maigh Cuilinn and Salthill/Knocknacarra in Pearse Stadium on Saturday, October 24th.
“Shane has dedicated so much of his life to the GAA, particularly to officiating at the highest level. His selection for such a prestigious occasion is a fantastic achievement, and everyone in Glinsk GAA is incredibly proud of him.
“Shane will become the second man from Glinsk to referee a Galway Senior Football Final, following in the footsteps of the great Micky Curley.
“A fantastic honour for Shane, his family and the entire parish,” said Glinsk GAA Club on social media.
Curley is no stranger to big games, and has also taken charge of matches in the Roscommon club football championships in recent years.
