Mark Dowd was ratified as Roscommon senior football manager for a three-year term at a meeting of Roscommon County Board on Thursday evening.

While there is speculation locally that John Rogers and Iain Daly will be part of Dowd's management ticket, it is expected that his backroom team will be finalised before next month's meeting.

Last weekend, Roscommon GAA confirmed that Dowd would be taking over from Davy Burke, subject to ratification.

The meeting also heard that expressions of interest were being sought for the post of Roscommon senior hurling manager in the aftermath of Kevin Sammon's departure.

The closing day for nominations is Wednesday, August 27th.
