AIB Connacht LGFA Junior Final

It was heartbreak for Northern Harps as they fell by three points to Galway side Menlough Skehana in this afternoon’s Connacht Junior Final.

The club from Elphin and Ballinameen faced into a strong first half breeze in Swinford, which played a part in the five wides and three dropped balls they kicked.

Menlough Skehana punished the Roscommon Junior champions with early goals from centre forward Emma Barrett and former Galway United player Tessa Mullins, handing their side a 2-5 to 0-3 lead at the break.

Northern Harps set out to attack the game with the wind at their backs, and slowly chipped their way back into contention, but still kicked six more wides.

Ciara Cunnngham’s goal at the end of normal time cut the deficit to one, but two late frees converted by Menlough Skehana ensured they captured provincial honours.
