Roscommon CBS secure knockout football
Roscommon CBS have progressed through to the quarter final stage of the Connacht Post Primary Schools Senior A Championship
Roscommon CBS secured top spot in their group and a quarter-final berth in the Connacht Post Primary Schools Senior A championship as they overcame Rice College 1-18 to 3-8 on Wednesday.
The win ensures Eoghan Coll and Noel Moran’s side have secured knockout football after Christmas.
After claiming the All-Ireland Senior B title last season, the victory is another boost for Roscommon schools' football as Roscommon CBS came through an attritional affair, backing up their 1-13 to 0-12 win against St. Colman’s a week earlier with another eyecatching victory.
Meanwhile, Scoil Mhuire Strokestown secured an impressive win 3-15 to 0-8 win over St. Louis Kiltimagh in the Senior B championship as Patrick Grehan, Conor Beatle and Tynan Hussey found the net.
Dunmore Community School secured a three-point victory over Presentation College Headford while, in the Senior D championship, Coláiste Mhuire Ballygar overcame Castlerea Community School.
Carrick Community School, Coláiste Chiaráin and Elphin Community College came up empty-handed in their respective games.
