A County Roscommon club has tied down the services of one of the most experienced managers in the county.

Nigel Dineen, who led the Roscommon U-21 football team to two All-Ireland finals against Dublin in 2012 and 2014, has been confirmed as the new Elphin intermediate football manager.

Dineen, a former Roscommon player, plied his trade with Tulsk and later Castlerea St. Kevin's before delving into management.

He also managed Strokestown in recent years before taking up a role as selector with the Sligo senior footballers under former manager, Paul Taylor.

Dineen replaces Seamus Quinn, who spent just one year with the Orchard Park-based club.

Elphin were beaten in last year's intermediate football championship semi-final by Éire Óg and will be hoping that Dineen's arrival can help them achieve their ambition of returning to the county senior football championship.
