Roscommon club unveils high-profile managerial appointment

New Kilbride manager and former Connacht LGFA President, Con Moynihan, presents the Connacht LGFA Intermediate Cup to Roscommon captain, Laura Fleming, following Roscommon's victory against Leitrim last May.

A County Roscommon club has unveiled a high-profile managerial appointment ahead of the new season.

Kilbride LGFA, who completed five-in-a-row of Roscommon senior ladies’ football championship victories between 2016 and 2020, has confirmed that Con Moynihan, a well-known figure in ladies’ football circles both locally and nationally, will be in charge of the team this season.

The management team is yet to be finalised but will include Michael Tully and David O’Rourke alongside Sandra Shanagher as Female Liaison Officer.

Moynihan has been synonymous with ladies’ football in the province, especially in Galway where he managed county teams to success at underage and adult levels. He also led St. Brendan’s to an All-Ireland club title in 2001.

For the past four years, he has been Connacht LGFA President, handing over the baton to former Roscommon LGFA Chairperson, Brendan Cregg, a few weeks ago.
