There was a Roscommon connection on the Kildare side that claimed the Tailteann Cup last weekend.
Alex Beirne kicked 1-2 for Kildare as they defeated Limerick in an engrossing Tailteann Cup final. Alex’s father Patrick hails from Tulsk and lined out for the club in his younger days.
Alex finished the year scoring 5-76 across league and championship as Kildare secured promotion to Division 2 and ensured they will be competing in the All Ireland series next year.
There was further Roscommon involvement in Croke Park last weekend.
Roscommon’s Paul Coggins was in charge of the London team that were defeated by New York in the All Ireland Junior football final.
The Michael Glaveys clubman saw his London side fall to a 0-20 to 2-13 defeat.
The junior championship was reconstituted in 2022 to cater for mainly overseas teams and New York have reached all four of the finals, winning the last three.
