Roscommon duo savour national handball success in Croke Park

Denis Creaton and Seán Jennings from Lisacul are crowned All-Ireland hardball doubles champions in Croke Park on Sunday last.

Denis Creaton and Seán Jennings claimed the All-Ireland Masters hardball doubles title in handball as they proved too strong for their challengers over the weekend.

The Liscaul pairing defeated Cork’s Jamie O’Donnell and Donnacha O’Dea 21-13, 21-8 in the final at Croke Park.

On Saturday last, Creaton and Jennings played in the round robin phase of the competition where the top two seeds proceeded to the final in Croke Park on Sunday.

The Roscommon doubles team won both their games and therefore topped the group. They defeated David Stanners and JR Finn of Wexford 25-12 before overcoming O’Donnell and O’Dea in their second round robin game, 25-18, to ensure they booked their place in the final with a 100 per cent winning record.

They faced a rematch against the Cork duo in the decider and, once more, they proved too strong as they brought an All-Ireland title back to Lisacul.
