Roscommon Garda have been crowned All Ireland Inter Firms Intermediate football champions.
They secured their first All Ireland title, defeating Limerick’s Aughinish Alumina 1-14 to 2-10 in this evening’s final, held at St. Patrick’s GAA Club in Limerick.
There were 19 Roscommon clubmen in the winners’ squad including former Connacht champion Colin Compton.
The management team is composed of David Cryan (Tulsk Lord Edwards), Karl Foley (Kilmore), Shane O’Connor (Tulsk Lord Edwards) and Conor Foley (Castledaly).
Roscommon Garda in their first year in the competitions defeated Castlerea Prison Officers, RBK Chartered Accountants and Vantive (Mayo) in a high scoring Connacht Final.
They then defeated Ulster champions MTM Engineering (Armagh) before securing a gritty win over Aughinish Alumina in the final.
