Roscommon hurler helps Galway club to county title
Enda Lawless (far right) helped Meelick/Eyrecourt claim the Galway intermediate hurling title.
Roscommon goalkeeper Enda Lawless helped his club Meelick/Eyrecourt claim the Galway intermediate hurling title last Sunday.
The shotstopper played a key role as Meelick/Eyrecourt won their first county intermediate title since 1997 as they defeated Kinvara 1-16 to 0-16.
The win means that Meelick/Eyrecourt qualify for the Connacht intermediate final where they will face Tooreen or London’s St. Gabriel’s.
Meanwhile, Martin McManus came off the bench as Loughrea claim the Galway senior hurling title last Saturday evening.
McManus, who was joint manager of the Mercy College team that reached the All Ireland Senior B camogie final earlier this year, came off the bench as Loughrea defeated St. Thomas’ 1-15 to 1-14 to retain their county title for the first time.
Meanwhile, Liam Gordon, who guided Athleague to the All Ireland junior camogie final in 2023 and who previously took charge of the Roscommon camogie team was the man in the middle on Saturday last.
