A Roscommon man was part of the UCD side that claimed the Freshers A football title yesterday.

Tommy Morris of Four Roads and St. Aidan’s was part of the UCD squad that claimed the title, defeating DCU 3-8 to 0-15 after extra time.

The former Roscommon Community College came off the bench as UCD secured a dramatic triumph.

The win ensured UCD got a measure of revenge for losing the Sigerson Cup final to DCU as they came from seven points down in the first half of normal time to prevail.

Rory Carthy of Roscommon Gaels and Western Gaels’ Éanna Nolan were part of the DCU side.

There was also Roscommon representation on the sideline, with Strokestown’s David Neary part of the DCU management ticket.
