A Roscommon man is set to play a key role in the hosting of a game between two of the Premier League’s biggest rivals in August.

It was confirmed earlier on Thursday that Leeds United and Manchester United will meet in a pre-season friendly in Croke Park on August 12th — the first soccer game between two Premier League clubs to be hosted at GAA headquarters.

It is believed that former Roscommon GAA Chairperson, Brian Carroll — who is Roscommon GAA’s Central Council delegate in Croke Park — will play a major role in the hosting of the match between the two Premier League giants.

Carroll is a lifelong Leeds United supporter and is a regular visitor to Elland Road.
