Roscommon on the lookout for new minor football manager

Roscommon are on the lookout for a new minor football manager following the decision of Shane Moran not to seek another term in charge.
With Moran at the helm, Roscommon stitched successive Connacht minor football titles together in 2025 and 2026 for only the second time in the county's history.
In 2024, the Roscommon Community College teacher was part of James Duignan's management team before going on to manage the team for the last couple of years.
During Moran's successful tenure, Roscommon won all ten provincial championship games under his watch, including Connacht finals against Mayo (2025) and Galway (2026).
In 2025, Roscommon reached the All-Ireland semi-final where they were knocked out by eventual winners, Tyrone, while Derry eliminated the young Rossies at the 2026 All-Ireland quarter-final stage in early June.
"On behalf of Roscommon GAA, I would like to sincerely thank Shane and his management teams for the outstanding commitment, professionalism and leadership they have shown throughout their time with the Roscommon minor team," said Roscommon GAA Chairperson, Thomas Murray,
"Winning back-to-back Connacht Minor Championships is a tremendous achievement in itself, but to play such an important role in Roscommon’s historic senior, U-20 and minor Connacht championship treble in 2026 is something that will forever be remembered as a landmark moment in the history of our county.
"Shane, his management teams and players have left a lasting legacy, and we are extremely grateful for everything they have done for Roscommon football. We wish Shane and his family every success in the future," continued Mr. Murray.
Roscommon GAA went on to extend its sincere appreciation to John Rogers, Padraig Kelly, Colm Garvey and Niall Carty for their dedication and commitment throughout their time with the minor panel.
Sincere thanks was also extended to the players, their families, clubs across the county, and everyone who supported the minor team over the past two seasons.
The process to appoint a new Roscommon minor football manager will commence in due course.
