A Roscommon senior footballer produced one of the best displays of his burgeoning career in a high-profile game, despite his side falling short this evening.

Daire Cregg lined out for UCD in their Sigerson Cup final against University of Ulster at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

The famous Dublin-based University were defeated on a scoreline of 3-12 to 0-15, but Boyle forward Cregg could have done no more, kicking 0-9 from frees, play and a mark off either foot from a variety of different angles.

Cregg was his team's vice-captain and was widely praised for his performance afterwards in what was the blue riband match of the third level colleges' calendar.
