Nine talented Roscommon sport stars have been awarded Connacht Student Bursary Awards.

Aisling Shanagher (Kilbride), Ciara Dowd (St Ciarans), Conor Harley (Pádraig Pearses), Darragh O’Beirne (Shannon Gaels), Paul Beirne (St. Barry’s), Rory Carthy (Roscommon Gaels), Rory Hester (Western Gaels), Ruairí Kilcline (St. Dominic’s) and Shannon Hibbitt (Michael Glaveys) are all set to receive bursaries.

A record number of 66 promising young Connacht GAA players and administrators have been included in the province’s annual bursary scheme.

The bursary scheme has been in place for sixteen years and awards members of the association who are active members of their Higher Education club.

All five Connacht counties are represented in the initiative which provides financial assistance to students who have displayed potential and commitment on the Gaelic Games front.
