It is expected that he will, at least, miss the rest of the season.

Roscommon midfielder, Conor Ryan, is set to miss the rest of the season after picking up a serious knee injury.

The Roscommon Herald understands that Ryan, who impressed in his debut season in Mark Dowd's set-up, was lining out for Pádraig Pearses in Chicago when the injury occurred.

While the severity of the injury has yet to be determined, it is feared that Ryan will miss his native Pádraig Pearses' Senior Club Football Championship campaign and, perhaps, a good deal of next year's intercounty season.

The news will come as a massive blow to last year's beaten finalists who already have to plan without exciting young forward, Seán Canning, who has been sidelined with a cruciate injury.

Pearses get their senior football championship campaign underway at home to Roscommon Gaels on Friday, July 31st.
