Two Roscommon players have been named on the LGFA’s Rising Stars which recognises key performers from the AIG Ladies HEC Championships.
Shannon Gaels’ Sarah Boyd and Ciara Dowd of St. Ciaran’s were named at corner forward and full forward respectively on the AIG HEC Rising Stars team.
Boyd produced a Player of the Match display as she helped DCU win the AIG HEC Cup.
The Shannon Gaels attacker stood out as DCU defeated UU Coleraine. Her clubmate Aisling Ryan was also part of the victorious squad as was Oran’s Niamh Walsh.
Meanwhile, Ciara Dowd was also selected as she played a critical role in ensuring a UL side, captained by St. Dominic’s Hannah Murray, won the Lagan Cup.
Dowd kicked an injury time free to save UL from defeat to TUS Midwest with the Limerick college prevailing after extra time.
The St. Ciaran’s clubwoman was named Player of the Match with her performance earning her a spot on the Rising Stars team.
The winners will receive their awards at a ceremony at The Bonnington Dublin Hotel, next Friday March 28.
