Three Roscommon players have been named on the GAA.ie Football Team of the Week after helping the county to a sensational 2-25 to 1-18 win over Mayo.

Fuerty’s Eoin Ward, Enda Smith (Boyle) and St. Faithleach’s Diarmuid Murtagh have all been included following their stellar performances in Roscommon’s dismantling of their hosts on Sunday afternoon.

Ward was instrumental in curbing the influence of Ryan O’Donoghue as the Fuerty man restricted his opposite number to a score from play. Meanwhile, Smith grew in stature as the game progressed, kicking three points and winning the kickout that led to Darragh Heneghan’s goal.

Meanwhile, Murtagh kicked 1-10 in a virtuoso performance as he tormented the Mayo defence throughout.

The St. Faithleach’s man has been nominated for Player of the Week following his inspired display on Sunday.

Players of the Week is decided based on votes cast by followers of the Official GAA Instagram page. Voting will close at 10am on Tuesday April 28, and the winner will be announced on GAA.ie.

Only Down enjoy a higher representation on the team than Roscommon with Ronan Burns, Miceal Rooney, Daniel Guinness and Odhran Murdock all included following their upset win over Donegal.

Fermanagh’s Darragh McGurn, who kicked 1-12 in his side’s defeat to Armagh, is also selected.
