Roscommon U-16 LGFA manager Tommy Keane has hailed his side’s performance as they produced a tremendous display to defeat Laois 4-14 to 0-10.
The winners produced their best performance of the year to help secure the county’s first ever All Ireland LGFA title at underage level.
Keane was delighted at how players in every sector of the field raised their game in the most important match of their fledgling careers.
“Everybody in the crowd was saying it, the way we defended. The way we got bodies back, got a hand in and did smart things with the ball when we had it. We got it up to our half forward line which were absolutely brilliant on the evening. Our inside forward line were dynamic in there and were getting lovely scores and tearing the full back line of Laois apart.
“That is testament to the work we have put in since Christmas and over the past three years to finetune how we play. It is a good brand of football, an enjoyable brand of football and they all play with a smile on their face. What more can you ask for.”
