Both Roscommon and Galway — this year’s Connacht finalists — will be involved in the opening round of the 2026 GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship on the weekend of May 22nd/23rd.

The draw, which will be conducted by Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns and County Roscommon native, Brian Carroll, Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) Chairperson, will take place Monday, May 4th, and will be broadcast live as part of The View on GAA+, beginning at 1 p.m..

It will feature the eight provincial finalists, who will be drawn against the eight highest ranked teams at the conclusion of the National Football League — the exception being 2025 Tailteann Cup winners, Kildare, who will be included in the draw should they fail to reach the Leinster final, in which case they will replace the lowest ranked league team.

Both Roscommon and Galway, along with the remaining provincial finalists, will enjoy home advantage in their respective fixtures.

The draw will be an open draw, with a total of eight Round One ties, meaning repeat pairings in the provincial championships will be permitted.
