Young fan has special moment with hero

Aisling Hanly presented Clodagh Flannery with a Roscommon jersey after Roscommon's game against Tipperary today.

Despite Roscommon’s defeat to Tipperary, an eight-year-old Roscommon supporter’s day was made when she met her hero.

Clodagh Flannery from Castlerea got to meet her idol, Roscommon corner forward Aisling Hanly.

The meeting was extra special for Clodagh, who wears hearing aids.

Aisling has proved to be an inspirational figure for the young Castlerea woman as the Roscommon footballer was born profoundly deaf and wears cochlear implants.

However, she has never let that define her. The Kilbride clubwoman has consistently been a key player for Roscommon over the past few seasons while she recently helped DCU to lift the O’Connor Cup.

Aisling kindly gifted Clodagh a Roscommon jersey after today’s game.

Roscommon LGFA thanked Aisling for her kindness and Clodagh for her support: “Clodagh is a huge fan of Aisling’s and got the VIP treatment today from watching her hero play to meeting her hero after the game. Aisling is an inspiration to us all and a fantastic role model.

"Clodagh will have treasured memories for a long time to come. A huge thank you to Aisling for making Clodagh's wish unforgettable! Thank you to Gowa for sponsoring the jersey.”
