Aoife O’Rourke has been crowned National Elite boxing champion as she secured a unanimous decision victory in her 75KG final on Saturday evening.
The Castlerea boxer dominated throughout as she secured the decision on all five judges' scorecards against Shauna Kearney of Bunclody BC, Wexford.
County Roscommon native, Sarah Cunningham, lost out in her 57KG final against two-time Olympian Michaela Walsh.
Cunningham didn’t fight competitively until seven years ago, but she has managed to be among the nation’s elite amateur boxers.
Meanwhile, Lisa O’Rourke was forced to pull out of her 70KG national final due to injury as Evelyn Igharo was crowned champion.
