Our Lady's Bower students, Anna Walsh, Liadhán Hatton, Aoibhinn O’Connor and Grace Brosnan are part of the Connacht U-16 and U-18 hockey teams for Friday's girls' interprovincials in Cork.

Four players from a local secondary school have been selected to play with the Connacht hockey teams at this year’s girls’ interprovincial hockey tournament.

Our Lady’s Bower students Anna Walsh, Liadhán Hatton and Aoibhinn O’Connor are part of the province’s U-16 team, while Grace Brosnan has been selected on the U-18 team.

In a post on social media, Our Lady’s Bower congratulated their “outstanding athletes” and “excellent students”.

The Athlone-based school, which has a number of students from the South Roscommon area, has a rich tradition in the sport.

All four players selected ply their trade with Athlone Hockey Club.

The 2025 interprovincial competitions take place at Cork Church of Ireland Hockey Club on Friday, September 5th.
