A County Roscommon woman has been priced at 25/1 by a leading bookmaker to become 2024 RTÉ Sports Person of the Year.

With the Olympic Games taking place in Paris, several Irish Olympians are in the frame to win the award won by gymnast Rhys McClenaghan last December, according to BoyleSports.

Aoife O’Rourke, who will carry the hopes of Castlerea and County Roscommon into the Games, has been priced at 25/1 to win the coveted price — the same odds as Rachael Blackmore and Michaela Walsh.

Rower Paul O’Donovan is the favourite at 3/1, followed by Kellie Harrington and Katie Taylor at 4/1, Rory McIlroy and David Clifford at 5/1, and Rhasidat Adekele at 6/1.

Meanwhile, O’Rourke has been touted as one of the country’s sporting talents to watch in 2024 by Guinness Live and Rising collaborator and broadcaster, Valerie Wheeler.
