Saoirse Wynne wins PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month award

Roscommon centre-back Saoirse Wynne has been named PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month for August following her heroics during the recent All-Ireland intermediate ladies’ football final.
Alongside Cork’s Sorcha McCartan, who won the camogie award, the Boyle defender was recognised for her outstanding performance during Roscommon’s All-Ireland intermediate ladies’ football final success against Fermanagh in Croke Park.
An immense defensive display in a sweeper role alongside Wynne’s selfless efforts and gritty determination helped Roscommon lift the Mary Quinn Memorial Cup for the first time in 21 years.
“Congratulations to Sorcha and Saoirse on being named the August Players of the Month. Both played hugely influential roles in helping their counties to victory in their All-Ireland finals, producing big performances when it mattered most,” said GPA CEO Tom Parsons.
“To finish the season as All-Ireland champions and receive the recognition of your fellow players at the pinnacle of the season is a fantastic achievement and they can be incredibly proud of the part they played in bringing All-Ireland success back to Cork and Roscommon.
