County Roscommon soccer club receives FAI award

FAI RECOGNITION: The club recently received the One Star Cub Mark award from the FAI, recognising the different phases that the club has achieved. Well done to Secretary Jack Harrington for the tremendous effort he has put into the project.
ROSCOMMON CUP: The first team, sponsored by The Three Counties Pub, saw off Division Two outfit St. Cuan's/Ahascragh United, 5-0, on Sunday to progress to the third round of the Roscommon Cup. Luke Ruane gave Cloonfad a third minute lead, which was doubled by Michael McGarry after 23 minutes. Cloonfad huffed and puffed for long stages, and it took St. Cuan's/Ahascragh United been reduced to ten players before they eventually made the tie safe. Substitutes Jack Madden (2) and Darragh Flynn scored the remaining goals in the final eight minutes, which didn't reflect the closeness of the game. Cloonfad United: PJ Donnellan, Conor Donnellan, Aidan Sloyan, Conor Ruane, Jason Reinhardt, Luke Ruane, Jarlath Carney, Michael McGarry, Conor Flynn, Dean Lyons and Neil Morris. Subs: Jack Madden, Darragh Flynn, Matthew Frayne, David Hennessy and Andy Glennon.
NEXT WEEKEND: Both senior teams are in league action next Sunday. The Reserves host Roscommon United in Division Two, while the first team are away to CP Ajax.
