Local school reach All Ireland soccer final

Glenamaddy Community School booked their place in the FAI Schools Junior ‘B’ Girls National Cup Final with a 5-2 victory over Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair.
Aisling Kennedy’s brace helped Glenamaddy Community School move a step closer to defending this title as soccer continues to thrive within the school.
After securing the Connacht title on penalties against St. Cuan’s College Castleblakeney, there was no such drama in The Showgrounds.
Kennedy gave her side the perfect start as she poked home the game’s opening goal after 90 seconds. Beth O’Mahoney bolstered her side’s advantage as she moved Glenamaddy Community School 2-0 up after 14 minutes.
The Donegal outfit struck back before the break through Aoibhin Ní Casaide’s long range strike with Glenamaddy CS leading 2-1 at the interval.
In a five minute spell, the reigning champions booked their spot in a national final. Ruby McGuire’s superb solo effort re-established her side’s buffer before Kennedy slotted her second of the afternoon.
Lily Nic Ruairi struck back for a plucky Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair but Michelle Mulryan’s inviting corner was deflcted into the opposition net as Glenamaddy Community School took a giant leap closer to defending their crown.
They will play either St. Peter’s CS, Passage West or St. Kilian’s DSD, Clonskeagh in the FAI Schools Junior ‘B’ Girls National Cup Final on Wednesday, February 25.
