Local school’s soccer team reach All-Ireland final

The Glenamaddy Community School squad that have reached the FAI Schools’ John Murphy Senior B National Cup final.

A local secondary school is eyeing up being the best team in the land after its senior soccer team reached the All-Ireland final on Friday.

Glenamaddy Community School defeated Coláiste Ailigh, Letterkenny, 2-0 in the FAI Schools’ John Murphy Senior B National Cup semi-final at Ray MacSharry Park.

Once again, it was a very disciplined performance from the East Galway school where the players’ workrate and resilience shone through like a beacon.

Dylan Joyce and Conor Kennedy grabbed the goals to set up a final meeting against St. Peter’s Passage West, Cork.

Many of the team’s players ply their trade with Ballymoe FC, Glen Celtic and Kilkerrin United in the Roscommon and District Youth and Schoolboys Football League.
