As the scale of the damage caused by Storm Éowyn becomes apparent, another major sports facility in the region has been badly damaged by the storm.

MEP Ciarán Mullooly has shared footage on social media of the damage done to the perimeter wall at the Bishopsgate Stadium — home of Longford Town FC located on the Strokestown Road.

Mr Mullooly estimates that thousands of euro worth of damage has been caused to the grounds by the storm, describing the destruction as “shocking and desperate”.

The club has a number of supporters from County Roscommon who follow the team on a regular basis.
