A County Roscommon native has helped Drogheda United reach this year’s FAI Cup final.
Former Boyle Celtic player James Bolger lined out in the winners’ defence as Adam Foley’s injury-time goal procured a dramatic 3-2 victory against Wexford to send the Louth side into the final against Derry City at the Aviva Stadium on November 10th.
Son of Catherine and Francis Bolger, the Corrigeenroe native signed for Drogheda United from Swedish side Bodens BK at the start of the season.
He is also a nephew of Peter Bolger who managed the North Roscommon team in this year's senior football championship.
Bolger was involved in the Drogs’ winner in the second minute of stoppage time after flicking on a throw-in, allowing Foley to smash home the winning volley.
