Roscommon school finishes in second place at soccer tournament in Aviva Stadium

The Glanduff NS team that will compete in the FAI Schools Primary 5s National 'A' Cup this Wednesday at the Aviva Stadium.
A Roscommon primary school has finished in second place at a soccer tournament in the Aviva Stadium.
Glanduff NS finished second in the Boys ‘A’ Cup event after coming through county and provincial championships to play the Munster, Leinster and Ulster champions on the hallowed turf.
They beat St Mary’s NS, Threemilehouse (Monaghan) in an eight goal thriller, prevailing 5-3 while also defeating Rathmore NS (Cork) 3-2.
However, Glanduff NS were forced to settle for silver as Gaelscoil Uí Chéadaigh came through a thrilling series of games.
Meanwhile, Cornafulla NS finished third in the Boys ‘B’ Cup.
They lost out to eventual champions Scoil Bhride Mullaghrafferty Boys (Monaghan) 4–3 before beating Clonmoney NS (Clare) 4-2.
Although the final game ended in a 4-1 defeat to Kentstown NS (Meath), Cornafulla NS and Glanduff NS can take pride in their memorable journeys this year.
