Two Roscommon women helped Athlone Town claim the FAI Women’s Cup.
Drum native Kayleigh Shine and Chloe Singleton from Monksland helped Athlone Town claim the FAI Cup and in the process complete the double after they won the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division this season.
Shine started as a Kellie Brady’s hat trick helped Athlone Town to a 3-2 victory over Bohemians this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Singleton came off the bench in the final. The Monksland native was out of action for 419 days before recently making her return from a long term injury.
Like Shine, Singleton previously played for Bealnamulla LFC in South Roscommon.
Former St. Nathy’s College student, Roisín Molloy, who hails from Gurteen in Sligo, also started.
This win capped a memorable season for Athlone Town which saw them compete in Europe for the first time and complete the double for the first time in the history of their women's team.
