A talented young Roscommon player has scooped the Gaynor Cup’s Goal of the Tournament after her wonderstrike during Roscommon’s march to the semi final stage of the prestigious competition.

Ava Hogan was a member of the Roscommon and District Youth League’s girls’ team which featured in what is the country's premier U-14 girls soccer competition.

The Skyvalley Rovers FC player saw her goal against Limerick District in the Gaynor Cup semi final among six nominees for Goal of the Tournament.

It’s been a memorable tournament for Ava who also came second overall in the tournament's scoring charts with five goals.

She bagged a hat trick against Clare while also finding the net against Midlands and Limerick District.

Roscommon reached the semi final of the Gaynor Cup for the first time in the team’s history as they came up just short against Limerick District in a penalty shootout.

The team finished fourth overall.
