‘A Wee Tap’ to be staged in Boyle

‘A Wee Tap’ a play written by Boyle writer Rory Nevin will take to the stage at St Joseph’s Hall, Boyle on Sunday, August 10th.

Starring Mary Kilcoyne and directed by Mary Blake, the play in set in rural Ireland of the 1980/1990s. Majella Sheerin, a woman in her forties, tells the story of her life. It concerns domestic violence and murder and deals with guilt, shame, loss, revenge. It’s dark, funny, sad but above all entertaining and is sure to prompt questions.

The play was staged at the Adelaide Fringe Festival earlier this year which is Australia's biggest arts festival and the world's second-largest annual arts festival.

Reviews at the time stated: “This is a brilliant one-hander filled with dark humour while pulling at the heart strings. A perfect hour,” wrote one person while another said, “A gripping play with an absolutely brilliant performance. The light and shade in the delivery was spot on. The character was made so believable you could not help but get immersed in the interesting and engrossing storyline.” Doors open for the Boyle show at 7.30 p.m. with the play starting at 8p.m..
