The Dock Arts Centre, Carrick-on-Shannon, will host a free screening of the acclaimed film 'Pride' at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 27th as part of Leitrim Pride Week 2026.

Based on a true story, 'Pride' is set during the 1984 UK miners' strike and follows a group of lesbian and gay activists in London who decide to raise money for striking mining families in Wales.

Despite some initial hesitation on both sides, the two communities form an unexpected alliance built on solidarity and mutual support.

The film features an ensemble cast including Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West, Paddy Considine and Joseph Gilgun.

Since its release in 2014, 'Pride' has been widely praised by critics and audiences alike. The film received nominations for a Golden Globe and three BAFTA Awards, including Best British Film.

The screening is presented as part of Leitrim Pride Week and offers an opportunity to revisit a film that combines humour, warmth and a powerful message about community and standing together in difficult times.

Admission is free, but booking is recommended at www.thedock.ie or contact The Dock Arts Centre on 071 965 0828.
