Young Ballygar singer propelled into international spotlight with ‘two days into college’

A young County Galway singer songwriter has been propelled into the international spotlight after a US basketball star shared her catchy lyrics with his two million plus followers on his TikTok page.
Aimee Carty (20) from Ballygar released the song ‘two days into college' last December.
This week Duke University guard Jared McCain (19) posted a video to his Tik Tok page with over two million followers, singing an acapella version of Aimee’s song and captioning the video "Post workout jingles @Aimee Carty was elite with this”. The video currently has over four million views and over six-hundred-thousand likes.
According the Sporting News website the basketballer’s rendition of the song quickly went viral, with many users creating edits that included his introduction, before the rest of the song was performed by Carty while McCain's highlights played.
Sporting News reports that the song has become a world-wide trend. Her song has officially been used in over 7,000 videos on TikTok, and her original Tik Tok version has been viewed over five million times, with over six hundred thousand likes.
Her former secondary school, Colaiste Mhuire in Ballygar, has congratulated Aimee saying: “Congratulations to past pupil, music superstar, Aimee Carty on the incredible success of her single, ‘two days into college’. Well done, Aimee, everyone in Coláiste Mhuire is proud of you.”
