The AGM of Elphin Community Centre CLG will be held on Thursday, October 16th at 8 p.m. in the centre. The Community Centre is at the heart of the community and serves young and old. It has been up graded in the last few years with extensive internal and external renovations carried out. There are on-going improvements being made all the time. If you would like to get involved in any small way to help out with this wonderful facility please come along to our AGM. New people, new ideas all welcome.
Yoga classes take place in Creeve Community Centre on Fridays at 7 p.m., €10 per class. New members very welcome. For further details contact 087 7823253.
The regular traditional Irish music sessions in the Tower Inn continue each Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. with a big welcome for all musicians and listeners. The Trad for Trocaire session will be back at the Halloween Bank Holiday weekend.
Tidy Towns volunteers are still hard at work, weeding, checking and re-planting containers. The committee would love to see new faces. No experience needed just a desire to help to make our town look well. A huge thank you to the wonderful sponsors without whom the committee could not buy plants, compost etc.

Irish language classes for adults will take place in the Cruachan Ai (F45HH51), Tulsk on Wednesday, October 8th from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.. This course is suitable for all levels with an emphasis on conversational Irish. Beginners are welcome. It will run every Wednesday for six weeks. ‘The Surgery comedy play, written by local man John Nugent, and staged in the Four Provinces Lounge, Rathallen on Saturday, September 27th proved to be a very entertaining and enjoyable event. John and the cast, all from the local area, entertained full house and appreciative attendances at two shows. The Croghan Community Choir also entertained on the night. Congratulations to all involved for their talented performances.
The organisers of the recent church gate collection in support of the Carrick-on-Shannon First Responders group, wish to thank everyone who donated and to the volunteers for their assistance. The total amount raised was €2,076.54 which will go towards the purchase of lifesaving equipment.
The parish ‘Come Follow Me Faith and Fun Club will commence on Saturday, October 4th at 3 p.m. in the Patrician Hall, Cortober. The club, which is being facilitated by teachers from the parish, invites children from Third, Fourth and Fifth classes to join.
A meeting of Croghan Parish Pastoral Council will take place on Tuesday, October 7th at 7.30 p.m. in Drumlion Parochial House.
Masses in Croghan parish this week as follows: Drumlion Church, Tuesday to Friday at 10 a.m., Saturday 7 p.m.; Croghan Church, on Sunday at 10 a.m. and in Patrician Hall, Cortober at 12 noon.

The death occurred on Tuesday, September 23rd at the Hermitage Clinic, Lucan, Dublin of Mrs. Margaret Mahon (née McGreevy), Palmerstown, Dublin and formerly of Ardlavagh, Carrick-on-Shannon, and Woodside New York. Margaret was beloved wife of Denis and mother of Kevin, Joseph, Grainne, Mairéad and Denise and is also survived by her grandchildren, extended family and friends. Funeral Mass took place on Friday, September 26th at St. Philomena's Church, Palmerstown followed by interment in St. Patrick's cemetery, Glencullen.
Stitch and Bitch mornings takes place every Friday at 10 a.m. in the Old Creamery Cafe, Croghan. Beginners and experienced knitters are all welcome to join.
Bingo takes place in the Patrician Hall, Cortober on Sundays at 8 p.m.. Big cash prizes to be won. All welcome.

Duties will include the upkeep of all amenity areas, grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, litter and weed control, upkeep of flowerbeds and shrubs and landscaping. Progressive 25 continues in Kilglass GAA Centre on Tuesdays at 8.30 p.m.. Last week's winners were: 1st, Tommy Flynn; joint 2ndm Mickey Tracey and Oliver Compton; raffle, Seamus Nugent. New players welcome.
In the Kilglass Gaels lotto held on September 27th, the numbers drawn were:9, 14, 21, 23, Bonus Number 22. There was no jackpot winner.
