The Roscommon Family Fun Run/Walk, held on Monday, May 4th last proved to be a wonderful success, raising €2,367 for the Irish Cancer Society. Organised by Sonya Raftery and the Roscommon Daffodil Day Committee, the event brought together people of all ages and abilities for a day filled with community spirit, fun, and fundraising. Starting from Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon, participants took part in 5K and 10K walk/run options, while families also turned out in large numbers to support the worthy cause. The event saw runners, walkers, joggers, families, friends, and supporters come together with a shared goal of helping those affected by cancer and supporting the vital services and research provided by the Irish Cancer Society. Speaking following the event, the Roscommon Daffodil Day Committee expressed its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to its success. "We are absolutely delighted with the support received for our Family Fun Run/Walk. To raise €2,367 for the Irish Cancer Society is a fantastic achievement and would not have been possible without the generosity and support of our local community. We would like to sincerely thank every participant, volunteer, sponsor, donor, and supporter who helped make the day such a success. The atmosphere was incredible and it was wonderful to see so many people come together for such an important cause,” said the committee. The committee also extended thanks to Hannon’s Hotel for its support, as well as all volunteers who gave their time and energy to help organise and run the event on the day. Funds raised will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society, helping to provide essential support services for patients and families affected by cancer, while also funding vital cancer research. The Roscommon Daffodil Day Committee looks forward to building on the success of this year's event and continuing to support the life changing work of the Irish Cancer Society in the years ahead.
