Ballinameen GAA Club’s annual ‘Christmas Lights Tractor & Truck Run’ will take place on this Saturday, December 2nd. Registration starts at 4.30 p.m.. Entry fee is €20 with all proceeds split evenly between Ballinameen GFC and Little Blue Heroes. There will be a prize for the best entry and also a free mini-tractor run for children, Christmas market stalls and a raffle. If you would like to book a stall, please contact Tony Christie. If you would like to help out on the night, please contact any member of the fundraising committee. All support would be appreciated.

LATE SR. JACINTA CULLINAN 

Sr. Jacinta Cullinan, formerly of Ballinagare and McAuley House, Roscommon Town passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21st last at Mullingar General Hospital. Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Catherine, brothers, Frank, Bartley and Miko and her sisters, Gretta and Teresa, Sr. Jacinta will be very sadly missed by her sister, Anne O’Neill, sisters-in-law, Rhona Cullinan and Teresa Cullinan, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, many relatives and friends, the Mercy Sisters Western Province, her community in McAuley House and her colleagues and friends in St Michael’s School, Castlerea. Following Mass of the Resurrection at the Sacred Heart Church in Roscommon, on Saturday, November 25th last, burial took place in Drummin Cemetery, Ballingare.

LATE MRS JENNY GALVIN 

The death occurred peacefully, at her residence, of Mrs Jeanette Galvin, Townagh, Riverstown, County Sligo on Monday, November 20th last. Affectionately recognised as Jenny, she was sister of the late Mae Finneran (née Murphy), Knockroe, Ballinagare and was also predeceased by her husband, Liam, son, Karl and brother-in-law, Gerry Finneran. Jenny will be sadly missed by her daughters, Majella, Noeleen and Sinead; sons, Michael, James, Liam and Thomas; grandchildren, sisters, Betty (USA) and Patsy, extended family, neighbours and many friends. Following Requiem Mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Riverstown on Thursday, November 23rd last, the funeral proceeded to Ballyrush Cemetery.

Pray for the repose of the souls of Mrs Dorothy Finnerty, United Kingdom (wife of the late Michael Finnerty, Castlecole, Ballinagare), Miss Evelyn Shannon, Tobertaravan, Cootehall; Mr Michael Phillips, Ballaghaderreen and Mr Terry Venables, England. May they rest in peace.

CHURCH NEWS 

Tibohine Church is looking for a volunteer Sacristan. If you are interested, please contact the office between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. before this Friday, December 1st. Masses will be held in Tibohine on Tuesday (28th) at 7 p.m. in Frenchpark at 7 p.m. on Thursday (30th), in Ballinagare at 7 p.m. and Tibohine at 8 p.m. on Friday (1st), in Tibohine at 11 a.m. and at 6.30 p.m. and Ballinagare at 8 p.m. on Saturday (2nd), in Frenchpark at 10 a.m. and Fairymount at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday (3rd).

LOTTO 

Western Gaels held its weekly lottery draw on Saturday, November 25th last. There was no jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 5, 18, 21 and 32. Cash prize winners (€20 each) were Padraig O’Connor, Martina Keenan, Liam Mahon, Pauline McCarthy and Dermot McGarry. The next draw (jackpot €10,400) will take place at the clubhouse in Frenchpark on Saturday, December 2nd. Tickets are available on-line through the Clubforce app or from local outlets. Congratulations to Enda Smith on winning his 2023 All-Star Award recently.

CPR TRAINING 

If any persons are interested in attending a CPR/ Defibrillator training evening hosted by a member of the civil defence, please forward their names to Caroline on 086-3827643. A date will be confirmed depending on interest.

LINE DANCING 

Line dancing classes, with Mildred Beirne, will take place in Frenchpark Hall on Wednesday evenings from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. (7.30 p.m.) for beginners or anyone who wants to learn a few steps before the main class begins).

LOCAL GAA FUNDRAISING EVENTS CONTINUE 

Tulsk camogie club’s minor and U-18 teams are busy readying themselves for a bake sale on this Sunday, December 3rd at Tulsk National School after 11.30 a.m. Mass. The support of the community on the day would be greatly appreciated. Proceeds from the event go to the Tulsk GAA pitch development fund.

SYMPATHY

The sympathies of local residents are extended to the family and friends of the late Geraldine Burke (nee McTiernan), late of Clashaganny, Tulsk. The deceased passed away in the care of the staff at Roscommon University Hospital. The late Geraldine Burke was a highly regarded and much liked neighbour and friend to many and was a person who carried herself with great dignity and fortitude. The deceased is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Bernie (Moran) and son, Tommy Joe. The deceased is also survived by her sister, Mary Moyse (UK); brother, Tommie McTiernan, daughter-in-law, Mary; her adored grandchildren Liam, Aisling, Laura, Ruth, Alice and Tommy,; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends. The deceased reposed at Smyth’s Funeral Home last evening (Monday), arriving at St Brigid’s Church, Fourmilehouse on Tuesday morning for Mass of the Resurrection this morning (Tuesday) at 11 a.m. with burial afterwards in Ballinderry Cemetery. 

Prayers were also recited at local Masses for the late Pat Dufficy, New York, USA and late of Carnaskeagh and to Marcella Madden, Liverpool, England, wife of the late Joe Madden, Carrowgarve.

LADIES FOOTBALL CLUB 

St Mary's Tulsk Ladies Gaelic Football Club will hold its AGM on Thursday, November 30th at 8 p.m. in the clubhouse. The club is urging both its members and the wider community to please consider volunteering your time to this worthy cause which is so valuable to its members.

PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE 

A meeting of the Tulsk Parish Finance Committee will take place tomorrow on Wednesday, November 29th at 8 p.m. in Tulsk Presbytery. All committee members are requested to attend.

PITCH FUNDRAISING DRIVE CONTINUES 

Tulsk GAA club wishes to acknowledge members of the community who have donated to the ongoing pitch fundraising drive. The club has recently erected new signage at the pitch. Anyone considering a donation is asked to get in touch with and member of the fundraising committee. Alternatively, one can donate by clicking onto www.tulskgaa.ie/pitchdevelopment.

CHURCH VISIT

 Sisters from the St. Elizabeth Convent in Belarus will have a small stall at the rear of Tulsk Church to coincide with morning Mass in Tulsk Church on Wednesday, December 6th. The sisters have previously visited the locality and are welcomed on their return. The support of local residents would be appreciated.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY 

The AGM of the Historical Society will take place on Tuesday, December 12th at the usual time of 8pm in the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre.

GAA AGM 

The Annual General Meeting of Tulsk Lord Edwards GAA Club will take place on Sunday, December 10th at 5 p.m. in the GAA Clubrooms.

MOVEMBER FUNDRAISING 

A number of players from Tulsk GAA club are taking part in Movember this year, in memory of their good friend Johnny Carroll to raise funds for men’s mental health. For the month of November, as a group, they will be trying their best to grow out their moustaches, do 2,800 press ups (100 for every year the players had with Johnny), some of them are even taking on 100km of running across the month as well. Three of the lads Eoghan, Jimmy and Darren have agreed to shave their heads once the group have a certain amount raised. Any donation no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated by the lads involved.
