ACCOMMODATION SOUGHT

LATE MR THOMAS CUMMINS 

Pray for the repose of the soul of Mr Thomas (Tom) Cummins late of Lahausk, Strokestown and Tooting, London who died recently in Tooting, London. Tom was pre-deceased by his wife, Mai (nee Keaveney) of Clooncarrow, Kingsland. Tom is survived by his daughter, Adeline, London, his brother-in-law, Eugene Keaveney, Peggy and family Clooncarrow, Kingsland; his sister, Mary Madden, Micky and family, Beaumont, Dublin; his sister-in-law, Maura Cummins and family, Lahausk, Strokestown. The funeral will take place in London.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS 

Stations of the Cross in Kiltrustan Church on Tuesday, February 24th at 3.30 p.m. and will continue each Tuesday during Lent.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS 

Strokestown parish is inviting any parishioner who feels called to be a Eucharistic Minister or a Minister of the Word to contact the parish office. Training will be arranged.  PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING 

A meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council will be on Wednesday, March 4th in the Parochial House.

SCDA LOTTO 

Numbers drawn in the SCDA lotto were 1, 3, 5, 8. There were two Lucky Dip winners - Susan Compton, Clooncagh, and Kenny Silke, Church Street. Next draw is on Tuesday, February 17th at the SCDA office. Jackpot, €900 Thank you for your continued support.

ASH WEDNESDAY 

Ashes will be available on Ash Wednesday, February 18th from the end of the 9.30 a.m., Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, until 7 p.m., ALONE Would you be willing to provide companionship to an older person locally? IRISH CLASSES 

Irish language classes for adults continue in Cruachan Ai Centre, Tulsk (F45 HH51), every Wednesday, from 6.30 p.m., to 8 p.m., This course is suitable for all levels with an emphasis on conversational Irish. EPILEPSY AWARENESS DAY 

In Ireland today, over 45,000 people live with epilepsy. For further information, visit www.epilepsy.ie. Purple Day or Epilepsy Awareness day will take place on Thursday, March 26th.

LATE MRS PAULINE COMPTON 

The death took place recently at Innis Ree Nursing Home, Ballyleague, of Mrs Pauline Compton (nee Fallon) of Newtown, Strokestown, wife of the late Mr Pat Compton. A native of Kilrooskey, she was daughter of the late Mr John James Fallon and of the late Mrs Mary Fallon. Her late husband carried on a successful building contracting business for many years. The business continues under the direction of her son, Kieran. A deeply religious person, she was a devoted wife and mother. She was held in the highest esteem among her neighbours and great friends. News of her passing in her 94th year was heard of with deep regret among her relatives, neighbours and loyal friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Jimmy, and sister Mary. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, and the interment followed in Strokestown Cemetery. She is survived by hers children, Joe, Kieran, Oliver and Patricia; daughters-in-law, Marie and Valerie; brother, Joe (UK); sister, Mrs Emma Flood (UK); sisters-in-law, Liz and Mary; grandchildren, Niall, Avril, James, Brian, Maria and Ciara; great-granddaughter, Eva, and her mother, Jenny; nieces, nephews, extended family and other relatives to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

ROOSKY/KILGLASS 

ROOSKY ACTIVE RETIREMENT AGM 

The AGM of Roosky Active Retirement has been rescheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 3rd at 11.30 a.m. in the Community Centre Roosky. All members requested to attend. Membership fee of €15 will be taken at the meeting.

KILGLASS GAELS LOTTO 

In the Kilglass Gaels Lotto held on February 14th the numbers drawn were 3, 4, 16, 25, Bonus Number, 2. There was no jackpot winner. There was one Match 3 number winner of €200, Ben Reilly. Next week's jackpot is €9,300 for four correct numbers, €13,300 for four correct numbers plus Bonus Number. Next draw takes place in the clubrooms on Saturday, February 21st.

RSPCA COLLECTIONS 

The Roscommon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will hold its annual church gate collections at the following churches over the weekend of February 21st & 22nd: St. Anne's Church, Slatta on Saturday, February 21st: Church of The Sacred Heart, Kilglass on Sunday, February 22nd; and the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Roosky on Sunday, February 22nd. Roscommon SPCA is run by a team of dedicated volunteers with all money donated going directly towards animal welfare in the county.
