Ballaghaderreen based alt-rock influenced electronic artist Death Milkshake has released the official music video for his single ‘Gravity’, released earlier in January. The video was shot in some striking locations in counties Roscommon and Sligo including at the majestic Caves of Keash, and is available to stream now on youtube.
Gravity, the single, was a commissioned piece written in Autumn 2024, as part of the Ballaghaderreen section of the ‘Creative places’ project supported by Creative Ireland and the Arts Council of Ireland. Death Milkshake worked in a team along with photographer Eithne Gallagher and writer Joe Egan (both Ballaghaderreen based) to create a song (Gravity), a piece of writing, and an artwork (the single’s cover image, which was photographed by Eithne) using the theme ‘This must be the place’.
Gravity is a response to Eithne’s photograph, with the mood of the songs intro being a reflection of the darkness depicted by the photograph, before building and bursting into life with a beat-driven climax.
Last week, Death Milkshake was the only Connaught artist named on Today FM’s list of Irish artists to watch in 2025. The other five artists named on the list were Taylor D, Kyla Belle, Negro Impacto, Jordan Anetunji, and Lisa Murray. His placement in the list follows on from strong radio support for the latest single (gravity) and songs from Death Milkshake’s 2024 debut EP (Shiny Things) on the station Death Milkshake plays Fibber Magees, Parnell Street, Dublin on Saturday, February 8th opening for Irish funk-Dance-rock band ‘Durtburd’ as they launch their debut album ‘Salad Dungeon’. Tickets are available from Eventbrite.
