Castlerea CS was defeated by Swinford CS in the first round of the Connaught College’s League Championship, at O’Rourke Park on Monday, September 22nd on the score of 10-12 to 3-12. While the scoreline would make you think that this was a one-sided game, this was very much not the case. The teams were level at half-time at 2-8 to 3-5. However, Swinford took over in the second half to run out deserving winners.

On Friday, September 19th the Wellbeing Committee/Student Council from St. Paul’s took the opportunity to visit Castlerea Library for the official opening of a beautiful sensory garden. All were delighted to receive a feast for all the senses, including a treat from local entrepreneurs Noble Ice Cream.
Pupils got the chance to experience the novelty animal chalkboards, dig in the garden with the garden toolbox and barrow, cook in the kitchen with an array of kitchen utensils and a pot for every occasion. There was ample outdoor seating for reading and relaxing, and the group bumped into two past pupils of St. Paul’s, Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice and Senator Gareth Scahill. While attending the event they met with guests, tried out the activities and of course sampled the ice cream. A bright future in journalism awaits the two reporters from St. Pauls - Decian Murphy & Leon Konieczka.
