Local Notes: Chit Chat Tuesdays, hospice marathons and sympathies expressed

The winning quiz team in the recent Ballaghaderreen Golf Club quiz.
Ballaghaderreen GAA and the greater Ballaghaderreen community have learned of the passing of Mr Tony O'Hara with great sadness. Tony was an extremely proud Ballaghaderreen GAA clubman. He was a key member of the various Ballaghaderreen panels that won major honours in the early 1970s. Following his playing career, he remained a committed member of the club, serving on the executive committee. His involvement was instrumental in securing the funding and overseeing the construction of the pitch and clubhouse in 1980 and the stand in 1997. However, it was as Manager of the senior ream in the early 1980s, over a number of years, where Tony truly made his greatest impact. Under his management, the team won the Mayo Senior League Division 1 title in 1982. Deepest condolences go to his wife, Pauline; daughter, Louise; son-in-law, Sean; brothers, Seamus and Leo; sisters Margaret and Breege; sisters-in-law, Patsy and Joanne; brothers-in-law, Tom and Brian, as well as his nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, and many friends. Following Mass of the Resurrection in the Cathedral of the Annunciation and St Nathy on Monday, burial took place in Kilcolman Cemetery.
