ST BRIGID'S IN CONNACHT CLUB FINAL 

Following defeat of Mohill in the Connacht Club senior semi-final at Dr Hyde Park on Sunday on the score 1-7 to 0-8, St Brigid's will now clash with the Galway side, Corofin, in the Connact Club Final on Sunday, December 3rd, at a Galway venue. Mohill led St Brigid's (Kiltoom and Cam) by 0-4 to 0-3 at half time. Brigid's scored 1-4 in the second half with Ronan Stack opening the scoring with a point in the 12th minute. The Ciaran Sugrue goal quickly followed, and, despite a gripping final six minutes, Brigid's survived the tough challenge of Mohill to emerge victorious. At the outset of Sunday's clash a minutes silence was observed for the late Tommy Dolan, a native of Corroclough, Kiltoom, a well-known St Brigid's Club activist, who passed on to his eternal reward the previous Wednesday after a brief five week illness.

AA MEETING

 An open public meeting organisd by the ABB will be held at Hannon's Hotel, Roscommon, on this Saturday, November 25th, at 6 p.m.. There will be speakers from AA, Al Anon, a professional counsellor and young person's liaison. HOLY HOUR 

A Holy Hour with Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place at St Brigid's Church, Curraghboy, on this Friday evening, November 24th, at 7 p.m..

IFA BRANCH AGMS 

The many and varied diverse issues affecting the farming community currently were discussed by IFA members at branch AGMS throughout South Roscommon over the past two weeks. Pat Leonard, Station Road, Kiltoom, the current chairperson of the Roscommon IFA County Executive, represented the County Executive at the Drum branch meeting in Drum Hall. The following officers were elected for the year ahead: Chairperson, Ollie Hardiman; Secretary, Denis McManus; Registrar, Pat Higgins and fourth delegate, Mrs Annmarie Watson. The Athleague meeting took place in Athleague Community Centre on Thursday night, November 9th. Michael Beattie, Rahara, the Roscommon representative on the IFA National Grain Committee represented the County Executive at the meeting. The following officers were elected: Chairperson, Niall Ward; Secretary, Joe Fallon; Registrar, Michael Hennigan and fourth delegate, Mrs Niamh Hennigan. Ms Miriam Gunn, Strokestown, the Roscommon IFA representative on the National Dairy Committee, represented the County Executive at the Knockcroghery meeting on Monday, November 6th, in Culleen Hall. The following officers were elected: Chairperson, Declan Kelly; Secretary, Padraig Corcoran; Registrar, Mrs Patsy Beades and fourth delegate, Mervyn Auchmuty. The Curraghboy meeting was held on Wednesday, November 8th, in Hamrock's Lounge, Brideswell. Jim O'Connor, Boyle, the Roscommon representative on the National Environmental Committee represented the County Executive at the meeting. The following officers were elected: Chairperson, Ms Christine O'Malley; Secretary, Niall Byrne; Registrar, PJ Fallon and fourth delegate, Mrs Carmel Gacquin. The Creagh meeting took place in the Moycarn Lodge, Creagh. Mr Pat Leonard represented the County Executive at the meeting. The following officers were elected: Chairperson, Willie Costello; Secretary, Michael Downey; Registrar, Dan Dowling and fourth delegate, Ms Mary Boland.

LATE MR EAMON GATELY

The death took place on November 4th peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Aperee Living, Ballinasloe, of Mr Eamon Gately, Carramore, Dysart. He was predeceased by his parents, John Lawerence and Delia, and his brother Sean. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Helen (Carramore), Mary Fallon (Creagh, Ballinasloe), Kay Queally (Dungarvan) and Jean McDonnell (Cam, Brideswell); brothers-in-law, Noel and Bernard; nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours, and friends. His remains were removed from Dempsey’s Funeral Home, Ballyforan to St. Patrick’s Church Dysart on Monday evening. Mass of the Resurrection took place on Tuesday followed by a private Cremation. Rest in Peace.

MARRIED 

The marriage took place on Saturday, October 28th, at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone, between Conor Duignan, second son of PJ and Caitlin Duignan, Thomastown Athlone, and Sarah Donovan, only daughter of Terry and Carmel Donovan, Beechlawn Drive, Monksland, Athlone. The civil ceremony was performed by Alan Kinsella, Dublin, uncle of the bride. The bestman was Padraig Duignan, brother of the groom and the groomsmen were Niall Harney, friend of the groom; Ashley Donovan, brother of the bride and Michael Grehan, also friend of the groom. The bridesmaids were Jessica Draper, friend of the bride; Kyra Donovan, daughter of the bride, Jessica Murray, cousin of the bride and Sinead Duignan, sister of the groom. The flower girls were Dalva Donovan, daughter of the bride; Autumn Duignan, daughter of the groom; Avery Duignan, niece of the groom and Reyah Duignan, daughter of the bride and groom. The page-boys were Calyn Donovan, son of the bride; Issac Grehan, nephew of the groom; Noah Duignan, nephew of the groom and Darragh Holdsworth, nephew of the groom. The reception was held at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel . The couple will reside in Monksland.

DRAMA 

The well-known Kiltoom Drama Group will once again take to the stage next month with a Victorian period drama titled "Gaslight". The suspense play will run at the Kiltoom Parish Hall from Thursday, December 7th to Sunday, December 10th at 8 p.m. nightly. The play is under the direction of Ollie Hegarty and it has a cast of seven. The play was first staged in London's West End in 1938, just a year prior to the beginning of World War 11.

LATE SISTER VINCENT BERRIGAN

 The death took place on Wednesday, November 8th, at the Garbally View Nursing Home, Ballinasloe, of Sister Vincent Berrigan, who was a native of Clonark, Cornafulla, Athlone. Aged 99 on September 17th last, she celebrated her birthday with a Mass of Thanksgiving and a get together of immediate and extended family members at Gullane's Hotel, Ballinasloe. She received her early education at Cornafulla NS and entered the Sisters of Mercy Community at the age of 19 and she was attached to the Convent of Mercy in Longford up until 2012 when he moved to Dun Mhuire, Athlone to live out her retirement. Over the decades the deceased became well known for her charitable work in Longford and for her visitation to the sick, the elderly, the bereaved and the needy. A deeply spiritual person, she espoused Christian values by virtue of everyday example. Of a caring and compassionate nature, she was attentive to all her religious duties always and enjoyed friendships with a wide age range. She was a member of a farming family of one boy and three girls and she was predeceased five years by her brother Joe and is survived by sisters, Mrs Teresa Greene, Lakeland, Ballydangan; Mrs Nancy Cogavin, Tulrush, Creagh; nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives. Following Concelebrated Mass at St Brigid's Church, Drum, on Saturday, November 11th, the burial took place in the family plot in Drum Cemetery. The principal celebrant of the Mass was Rev. Michael Hickey, CC, Drum.

LATE MR PAKIE DUIGNAN 

The death took place on October 30th in Doncaster, England, of Mr Patrick (Pakie) Duignan, who was a native of Clonark, Cornafulla, Athlone. Aged 90, he was a member of a family of four boys and four girls and he enjoyed the respect and esteem of all those with whom he became acquainted. He was predeceased by his brothers Eamon and Jimmy and his sister, Mrs Mary Kenny, Clonfad, Moore and is survived by one brother, Michael John, Clonark; sisters, Mrs Nancy Nicholson, Kilmacormack; Mrs Bridgie Ryan, Moore North and Sister Una Duignan, Sisters of Mercy, Roscommon.

COMMUNITY PARK 

The formal lodging of plans by Roscommon County Council on November I1t for a much needed community park at Monksland, is being welcomed by residents and community groups in Monksland which is South Roscommon's most populated urbanised area. The plans include provision for an outdoor performance area, tiered seating and a micro skate park. The site encompasses 7.275 sq m of brownfield land and a decision on the application is expected by December 14th.

CARD DRIVE WINNERS
