VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO TRAIN IN CPR 

The Boyle defibrillator group has taken delivery of seven new defibrillators which will soon be installed at the following locations- An Rioga - under the arch; Carty's Garage, Mockmoyne; on external wall of Drumderrig Nursing Home; Maple Drive; the service block at Boyle Harbour; Feelystone, Greatmeadow and on the external wall of Grange National School. Volunteers are now required to train in CPR and become confident in the use of defibrillators. Anyone requiring a refresher course will be welcome. It is important that Boyle has first responders close to the defibrillator locations. If you are interested, text your name and contact details to 086 0736344 or 086 0681035.

COLLECTION IN AID OF CEMETERY 

Friends of Assylinn will hold a church gate collection on April 4th and 5th (Easter weekend) at St. Joseph’s Church, Boyle. Funds raised will help towards the upkeep and future projects in Assylinn Cemetery.

TAWNYTASKIN COMMMUNITY CENTRE 

 Upcoming events at Tawnytaskin Community Centre include Easter Monday, the annual afternoon tea event; May – the very popular Rambling House. All enquiries to 086 8130005.

CELTIC 50/50 DRAW 

Last Friday’s winner of the Boyle Celtic 50/50 draw was Patricia Golden, who won €1645. Tickets are on sale now for this Friday’s draw from all the usual outlets and online.

CELTIC MEGA DRAW 

Tickets are on sale for the Boyle Celtic’s Community Hub Mega Draw- with over 30 prizes up for grabs and all funds going towards the development of the Community Hub. The top prize is a €1000 Centre Parcs trip. Other prizes include All-Ireland final tickets, hotel and dining breaks, hot air balloon experience, festival passes, €400 shopping voucher, golf experience and more. Tickets, €10. Draw will be held on March 28th.

DARTS NIGHT 

This Saturday Boyle Celtic hosts its darts night fundraiser in St. Joseph’s Hall. Rob ‘Voltage’ Cross will take on 18 players from Boyle and the surrounding areas with all proceeds going towards the Celtic Community Hub.

BOYLE GAA 50/50 DRAW 

The lucky winner of the most recent Boyle GAA 50/50 prize draw for €2,000 was Cliodna McDermott. The next draw will not take place until April 4th when there will be the 50/50 along with an extra bonus prize of €500.

COLLECTION THANKS 

Rise And Shine (formerly Irish Pilgrimage Trust Bringing Young People with Special Needs to Lourdes) would like to sincerely thank all the people of Boyle parish for their contribution of €835.10 to the recent church gate collection and also thanks to members of Boyle GAA Club who helped collect on the day.

BEGINNER GOLF LESSONS 

 There will be men’s and ladies golf lessons at Boyle Golf Club running as a block of weekly lessons on a Wednesday evening from April to July. There are still three places left in the men’s lessons at this point, whilst the women’s lessons are also almost full.

LATE MRS ANNE O’HARA CONROY 

The death occurred on Tuesday, March 17th, peacefully in the wonderful care of the nurses and staff at St. Augustine’s home, Ballina, of Mrs Anne O’Hara Conroy, Mockmoyne, Boyle. Predeceased by her daughter, Achileen and parents, Annie & Jim O’Hara. Anne will be dearly missed by her husband, Michael; daughter, Anita; sons, Oisin, Diarmúid & Michael; grandchildren, Caitlin, Rebecca, Ella and Chloe; brother, Eamon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Boyle on Saturday morning was followed by burial in Assylinn Cemetery, Boyle.

LATE MR MICHAEL REGAN 

The death occurred on March 15th, peacefully, in the exceptional care of the staff of the Plunkett Community Nursing Home, Boyle of Mr Michael Regan, Tintagh, Corrigeenroe / Hanley Avenue, Boyle. Pre-deceased by his parents John and Margaret, stepmother, Monica, sisters, Maureen Egan, Chris Regan and Josephine Hall, his nieces Mary McDonagh and Lucy Garvin. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Margaret, Patrick, Jim and Michael Egan, Clodagh, Carolyn and Peter Hall, extended family, neighbours and friends. Following Funeral Mass in Saint Joseph’s Church, Boyle on Thursday interment took place in Assylinn (old) Cemetery.

CONNECT CAFÉ 

The monthly Connect Café takes place on Thursday, March 26th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boyle Family resource Centre. This special café, “A Jar of Spring Smiles” is inspired by a simple yet meaningful idea - to share kindness, spread joy, and bring a smile to faces within the community. Sometimes, all it takes is a kind word or small gesture to brighten someone’s day. It is hoped this morning will create a warm and welcoming space where those moments can flourish.

COOTEHALL/CROSSNA/DRUMBOYLAN 

COOTEHALL CHILDREN’S PARADE 

The very first St. Patrick’s Day Children’s Parade in Cootehall was a huge success. A massive thank you to all the amazing children who dressed up and took part, you brought colour, fun, and magic to the village. Congratulations to all the winners. A special well done to all the incredible Irish dancers, you were outstanding. Special thanks to Michael Regan, Pauric Cox & Francis Dowd – stage and canopy; Shane Malone – stage floor; Social Committee – decorations; Brian Lee-road safety; Marie Carroll-equipment; Jason Roddy and Maintenance Committee – flags and bunting; judges, Laureen O'Dowd & Ann Griffin; MC, David O'Dowd; stewards for safety; Karl Moffat – equipment and all the incredible volunteers. Even with the wind, the village looked amazing and fair play to Michael in the ice-cream van for braving it! Thanks to Peter Prior and Padraig Flanagan for music and refreshments in Henry’s. Thank you to all the parents and families for the support. All truly appreciate everyone who helped in any way. This wouldn’t be possible without the community. Bigger and better next year.

 Tickets are now on sale for the Grand National Sweep run at Aintree on Saturday, April 11th in aid of Drumboylan Church Funds: 1st, €400; 2nd, €200; 3rd, €100; 4th, €50. Seller of winning ticket - €20. Tickets are €2 each. Complete book of 10 tickets for €15. Draw will be held on Thursday, April 9th in Drumboylan Community Centre.

CONNACHT CHAMPIONS 

Comhghairdeas mór to the St. Michael’s ballad group of Chloe McGuinness, Ronan and Aoife Guckian, Sorcha Gilboy, and Niamh Reynolds who won the Scór Connacht Final. Naomh Michéal Abú. A huge thank you to mentor Anne Marie Harte, scór coordinator Geraldine McMorrow and all who supported the group. They go forward to the All-Ireland Scór Finals which will be held in the TF Royal Theatre on April 25th.
