JACK CARTY TO RETIRE FROM RUGBY SCENE 

After a glittering 15-year career playing rugby, Jack Carty, who is a native of Barrymore, Kiltoom, is set to retire from rugby union at the end of the current season. Son of Mr and Mrs Ted Carty, his decision to retire was made public on Tuesday, March 24th, and it resulted in innumerable social media posts wishing him well in his retirement. Born on August 31st, 1992, he currently plays for the team of his native province Connacht. He initially started playing rugby with his home club Buccaneers. He received his early education at Ballybay National School, Kiltoom, and the Marist College, Athlone.

EASTER MARKET

Plans are now well advanced to stage an Easter Farmers’ Market in South Roscommon's most central village, Brideswell, on this Saturday, April 4th at 2 p.m.. There will be a mystery trail, egg design, face painting, market stalls and refreshments. The support of the general public would be greatly appreciated.

LATE MRS MARY MULVEY 

The death took place on Sunday, March 15th, at Portiuncula University Hospital, Ballinasloe, of Mrs Mary Mulvey, Killeglan, Taughmaconnell. Aged 85 on September 5th last, she was a native of Bullaun, Loughrea, and she had resided in family setting at Killeglan for upwards of 50 years. She had been in ill health for some time and she bore her illness with characteristic dignity. A member of a well known Taughmaconnell farming family, she was devoted to her immediate and extended family and she was also a most obliging neighbour and reliable friend. A deeply religious person, she was a regular visitor to Knock Shrine and she had also visited Lourdes and the Holy Land over the decades. She also supported a number of community and church linked activities and a wide range of charitable causes and bequests. She is survived by her husband, Pat; son, Dermot, Athlone and daughter, Mrs Karen Harney, Killeglan. She is also survived by one brother, Very Rev. John Naughton, Ahascragh; sisters, Mrs Claire Carty, Bullaun; Geraldine, Bullaun; four grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a number of other relatives. Following Concelebrated Mass at St Ronan's Church, Taughmaconnell, on Wednesday, March 18th, the burial took place in Taughmaconnell Cemetery. The principal celebrant of the Mass was Very Rev. John Naughton, brother of the deceased.

LATE MR MARTIN MOORE 

The death took place recently while in the care of University Hospital, Galway, of Mr Martin Moore, Fountain View, Knocknacarra, Galway, who was a native of Creher, Ballyforan. Aged 58, he enjoyed the respect and esteem of all those with whom he became acquainted. He was a regular visitor to his extended family members and friends in Ballyforan down the years. He is survived by his brothers, Paddy, Dysart; John, Creher; Billy, Creher; Peter, Creher; sisters, Mrs Peggy Lynch, Dysart; Mrs Mary Mongey, Lucan, County Dublin; Mrs Lucy Fitzmaurice, Ballygar; Mrs Ann Dowd, Four Roads; Mrs Gertie Doolan, Ballybride, Roscommon and Mrs Kitty Blighe, Mote Park, Roscommon. Following Mass of the Resurrection at St Joseph's Church, Ballyforan, on Thursday, March 19th, the burial took place in Taughboy Cemetery.

EASTER CAMP 

Padraig Pearses GAA Club is currently completing arrangements to host an Easter camp from this Tuesday, March 31st until Thursday, April 2nd, for boys and girls aged from five to 13 years. The camp schedule is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day and the cost is €40 per child. If two or more participants are from the same family then the cost is €35 per child. MONOPOLY RUN 

Moore Scouts are hosting Monopoly Run, Ballinasloe from the Emerald Ballroom on Saturday, April 11th, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. Registration is at 12.30 p.m.. Everyone is welcome.

MOBILE LIBRARY 

The Roscommon Mobile Library Service will be at the SuperValu car park, Monksland, on Thursday, April 2nd, and Thursday, April 16th, from 1 p.m to 3.30 p.m.. Library membership is free.

HOLY HOUR 

Very Rev. Michael McManus, PP, Kiltoom and Cam, will lead a Holy Hour at the Church of the Risen Christ, Ballybay, Kiltoom, on this Tuesday, March 31st, at 8 p.m..

LATE MRS MARY CARROLL 

The death took place on Monday, March 2nd, at her residence, of Mrs Mary Carroll, Cloonloughlin, Mount Talbot. Aged 94 in May last, she was the former Ms Mary Flynn, Ballyminton,Dysart, and she had resided in a family setting at Cloonloughlin for the past 64 years. Of a quiet and caring disposition, she was devoted to her immediate and extended family. A most obliging neighbour, she was noted for her hospitality to all those who visited her family home. A deeply religious person, she was a regular visitor to Knock Shrine and she had also climbed Croagh Patrick on a number of occasions. Predeceased by her husband, Joe on November 19th last, she is survived by daughters, Mrs Ann Marie Campbell, Lismaha, Mount Talbot; Martina, Keenagh, Athleague and Mrs Carmel Kenny, Cloonloughlin. Predeceased by her two brothers, she is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mrs Margaret Hewitt, Dunshaughlin, County Meath; Mrs Ann Donohoe, Hillstreet, Ballinasloe; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a number of other relatives. Following Mass of the Resurrection at the Church of Christ the Good Shepherd, Four Roads, on Wednesday, March 4th, the burial took place in Tisrara Cemetery. The celebrant of the Mass was Very Rev. Francis Beirne, PP, Ballyforan, Dysart and Tisrara.

RINKA EASTER CAMP 

A Rinka Easter Camp will take place in Moore Community Hall over two days on Tuesday, April 7th and Wednesday, April 8th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The camp is a high energy fitness camp full of games, teamwork and movement for children aged four and over. Spaces are limited and booking is now open. CARD DRIVE WINNERS
