SCDA FORTNIGHTLY DRAW 

Results of the SCDA Fortnightly Draw held on 9th June 2026. Numbers drawn: 8, 16, 19, 23. Two "Lucky Dip" winners: Dot Devine, Clooneigh, and Tony Feeney, Caniska. The next draw will take place on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026, at the SCDA Office. Thank you for your continued support.

SUNDAY MASS 

Sunday Mass at Carnaska Church will take place on Sunday, 21st June 2026, at 10 a.m.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE 

The Achonry and Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 28th August to 2nd September 2026, inclusive. Those who travel as part of the Assisted Pilgrim Section will stay in Accueil Notre Dame, which is situated near the Grotto and Sanctuary area. They will be cared for by the Diocesan Pilgrimage Care Team while in Lourdes. A Church Gate Collection will take place on the weekend of 20th/21st June 2026. This year, 35 Assisted Pilgrims from the Diocese will travel to Lourdes, and all monies collected will be used to help defray the costs of this section of the pilgrimage.

SHORT BREAKS SCHEME 

Would you be interested in providing home-from-home short breaks for children and adults who have an intellectual disability? The Corlann West Homeshare Programme is recruiting host carers. SUPPORT GROUP 

The Shine Relatives and Supporters Group for individuals supporting people living with mental health challenges will hold its monthly meeting on the second Tuesday of the month from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at REGARI Recovery College, Roscommon Town. Email support@shine.ie or call (086) 0407701.

LATE MR JIM TUNNEY 

The death took place recently at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin, of Mr Jim Tunney of Lisroyne, Strokestown. A native of Curnageltha, Foxford, Co. Mayo, he was the son of the late Mr Patrick Tunney and the late Mrs Ellen Tunney. He joined An Garda Síochána in the 1960s and served for most of his career in Strokestown. He carried out his duties with care and discretion. He was one of the group in Strokestown Golf Club who acquired the lands at Bumlin and developed a nine-hole golf course. He enjoyed the game immensely. News of his passing, following a lengthy illness borne with characteristic grace and courage, was heard with deep sadness among his relatives, neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Tom, John, Matt and Frank, and by his grandchildren, Riona and Reiltín. The Funeral Mass was concelebrated at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strokestown, by Father Eamonn O'Connor, P.P., Father Vincent Atueyi, Canon Ciaran Whitney (Strokestown), Father Charles McDonnell (Athenry), and Father Padraig Costello (Foxford). Rev. Ian Horner (Church of Ireland Rector, Mullingar) participated in the prayers. Symbols presented at the Mass included a recent family photograph, his Certificate of Exemplary Conduct from An Garda Síochána, a golf ball, and a daily newspaper, to illustrate his lifelong interests. The interment followed in Aughavale Cemetery, Westport, in his native county. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (ex-N.T.), children Seamus, Mary, Brendan, Michael and John, grandchildren Isobel, Mark, Síle, ElleAnna, John, Grace, Theodore, Molly, Maeabh, James, Daniel, Finn, Rian, Darragh, Patrick, J.R., Isodora and Louis, sister Eileen, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives, to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

LATE MRS BERNIE MURRAY 

The death took place recently at University Hospital, Galway, of Mrs Bernadette (Bernie) Murray (née Dayton) of Clooneyquinn, Elphin, wife of the late Mr Dermot Murray. A native of Bumlin, Strokestown, she was the daughter of the late Mr Brian Dayton and the late Mrs Mary Dayton (née Mannion). She was educated at the Convent of Mercy Primary School and Scoil Mhuire Secondary School, Strokestown. News of her passing, following a brief illness bravely borne, was heard with deep regret among her relatives, former neighbours and close friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marion (Roscommon) and Kathleen (U.S.A.), and by her brother, P.J. (Australia). The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Catherine's Church, Killina, by Father John Gannon, P.P. (Tulsk), and the interment followed in Tulsk Cemetery. She is survived by her children, Declan, Olivia and Andrea (John), grandchildren Diarmuid, Aine, Daithi, Eabha and Sean, sisters Pauline (Roscommon) and Mrs Margaret Scott (Ballisodare), niece Joan, extended family and other relatives, to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION 

The Lourdes Assisted Pilgrim annual church gate collection will be held at all churches in the parish on June 20th and 21st. Please support.

SOCIAL DANCING 

 Social Dancing takes place in Bridgeways Family Resource Centre N39 TD54 on Friday 19th June from 9:30pm to 12 and music is by Pat & Brian. Admission is €10 and free raffle and refreshments. In the Kilglass Gaels Lotto held on June 13th, the numbers drawn were: 16, 24, 26, 28. Bonus - Number 17. There was no jackpot winner. DEATH 

The death has occurred of Kathleen McHugh (nee McGeady), Mullagh, Rooskey. Predeceased by her husband Mike, she will be sadly missed by her brothers Andy (Marita) and James, nephews Andrew and David, their families and her extended family members. May she rest in peace.
