A man was hospitalised after he was hit by a car in Castlebridge, Wexford, on Saturday night.

The incident happened at 11.50 pm, when the man was hit by a car on the R741.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was brought by ambulance to Wexford General Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The road is currently closed pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who were travelling on the R741 between Castlebridge and Wexford Town between 11:30 pm and midnight on 1st August 2026 and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
