Boyle teacher Niall Flynn celebrates after reaching Malin Head following an epic five day cycle the length of the country.

Boyle Abbey Community College teacher Niall Flynn has completed a cycle from Malin to Mizen Head in just over half the time expected.

The Malin to Mizen Head cycle which covers 917 kms normally takes nine days but Niall decided to increase the amount of kilometres he cycled each day and competed it in just five days which was a massive achievement.

The Mohill native decided to take part in the charity event as part of his 6 Challenges in 6 Months fundraising effort.

In January he ran 6kms every day for the entire month, while in February he ran four miles every four hours for 48 hours over Valentine’s weekend, which was close to two back-to-back marathons.

On March 22nd he ran up and down Croagh Patrick six times over 25 hours while in May he aims to run a marathon every Saturday in the four different provinces.

He will round out the six month challenge in June by running 5km in every county in Ireland.

Niall is raising money for two charities, the Irish Cancer Society and North West STOP.
